Offered for sale is an extremely nice Bert Graves Style Mallard Decoy by Jim Slack (1941 - present) of Pekin, Illinois. This particular example is hollowed and has beautiful thick swirled paint that is very nicely blended especially on the back (please see photos 2 & 9). The decoy measures approximately 17" L x 7.5" H and has a lead weight on the underside with "G.B. Graves Decoy Co. Peoria, Ill." cast into it. Comb vermiculation is present on the sides and base. The speculums have very thick blue paint where the brush strokes can still be seen (photo 4). The decoy is free of cracks or repairs. I am guessing this decoy was completed in the 1980's and is in all original paint without touch-up. Jim Slack signs many of his decoys, but this example is unsigned. Decoy will be very carefully packaged in a larger box with plenty of extra cardboard, bubble wrap, and paper packing material. Please let me know if you have any questions.
