Description

For sale is half a dozen LLBean (George Soule) drake goldeneye decoys. Bodies are made or cork, heads are wood along with glass eyes. The decoys retain there original paint that shows some minor cracks (expected over time), bodies are very solid, clean paint, stencils clear and all glass eyes are intact. These decoys are unique compared to other LLBean decoys regarding head to keel construction. Most heads with dowels used to be nailed to the keel so you couldn’t manipulate head position. These have neck inserts attached to cork body with three holes. The holes allow you to position the head to the left, center and right of breast centerline (see photos). Each head has a galvanized washer and screw to attach to bottom of dowel and a metal stud behind dowel under head that locks into one of three holes found on the neck insert. Very unique craftsmanship and highly collectible. The decoys will be shipped with heads removed for protection during shipping and to reduce size of box used to reduce shipping costs.
