Description
Beautiful vintage drake merganser decoy, made by Gary Crossman, the well known carver from Chincoteague, Virginia(now deceased). I believe this is from the late ‘70s. It was made with the leather loop and lead plate on bottom(still attached). “C” is also carved on bottom as Gary did on most of his decoys. Length is 20 inches, width is 4.75 inches, and height from tip of beak to surface decoy sits on is 6.25 inches. Most blemishes seen on duck are from natural age. The back tail, as shown in photos has a couple of natural age splits in it. See photos for condition. Beak is still in excellent condition. All original paint; glass eyes. I’ve gotten so used to having him around for so long, he nearly seems real! Truly an awesome work of art, with its authentic aged appeal. Moving, & making room. From a smoke free/pet free home. Any questions, please ask. Don’t miss out on this great addition to any home & decoy collection. You won’t be disappointed!
