Description

This listing is for a carved and painted Merganser duck decoy with a flat bottom and that has natural wood indents and what resembles a "hand-hole" through the bottom and out through the top. There is carved initials on bottom (which I cannot make out--see photos), came with a tag name Tony Giannetti. The bottom has a metal loop near front with remnants of a cord attached . The Merganser duck has a textured side ribbing (similar to the marks inside a tree trunk,) painted decoration of black accent lines on wings, dots on chest, and head that extends down across the top of a red beak. The side wings are off-white and there is a white neck band. The artists use of natural wood grains adds to the overall design to this decoy. This is his first piece that he has carved. The head has same ribbing design and no painted or glass eyes (I first thought there was one eye painted but I believe it is just the texture of the wood), and the back of head has "combed" & notched feathers. The decoy measures approx. 16" long from edge of bill to tip of tail. It is approx. 5-1/2" wide and is 6-1/2" to the top back of its head.
